New York City: Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Liturgy in Synodal
Cathedral for Feast of Holy Apostles Peter & Paul
On
Tuesday, July 12, the feast day of the Holy Supreme Leaders of the
Apostles Peter & Paul, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America &
New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, celebrated
Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York
City. His Eminence was co-served by: Archpriest Vasiliy Raskovskiy
(cathedral cleric), Abbot Cornelius (Apukhtin; cleric of the
Nativity of the Mother of God Church at the New Kursk Root Hermitage
in Mahopac, NY), Hieromonk Tikhon (Gayfudinov; abbot of Holy
Protection Skete in Buena, NJ), and Protodeacons Vadim Gan and
Dionysius Lvov (cathedral clerics).
Singing at Liturgy was the hierarchal choir under the direction of
conductor Peter Fekula.
Upon completion of the service, namesday celebrants and parishioners
communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries. Metropolitan Hilarion
congratulated the Orthodox on the occasion of the feast, and the
namesday celebrants with the feast of their Heavenly patrons. He
spoke about the lives of the Supreme Leaders of the Apostles Peter
and Paul and about their calling to take part in Christ’s preaching,
in the work of saving mankind, and wished for all Orthodox
Christians to emulate the Apostles and seek communion with God.
