Coconut Creek, FL: Bishop Nicholas leads Patronal Feast Day of St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church

On Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th of June, Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan paid an archpastoral visit to St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church and Paideia Classical Orthodox Academy in Coconut Creek, FL. On Friday, His Grace led the All-Night Vigil, and on Saturday morning – the patronal feast of St. Luke’s Church – celebrated the Divine Liturgy. He was co-served by Miami clergy: Archpriest Daniel McKenzie (rector of St. Vladimir Church), Archpriest Peter Jackson (rector of Apostolic Mission of Christ under the Protection of the Holy Apostles), Priest Demetrio Romeo (rector of St. Luke Church), and Deacon Dimitry Doohovskoy (cleric of St. Vladimir Church).

The parish choir, joined by singers from around Miami, sang the divine services. Parishioners, teachers, and students from the academy gathered at the Liturgy to honor the memory of the Heavenly patron of the parish and school. The day prior, on the feast day of the Ascension of the Lord, the school held its graduation ceremony, and the Divine Liturgy was served in the church in honor of the great feast.

On behalf of Metropolitan Hilarion, upon completion of the festal Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas congratulated the clergy and parishioners with their patronal feast day, and expressed his future readiness to prayerfully support the parish and academy, where children learn and receive an Orthodox moral education and upbringing. His Grace called on the faithful to follow the example of the Holy Hierarch Luke, who dedicated is knowledge, his service, and his entire life to God and man.

Upon completion of the service, a festal luncheon was held, during which the clergy and parishioners continued their interaction with their archpastor.
