Nyack, NY: On Myrrhbearers Sunday, Bishop Jerome celebrates Liturgy in Holy Protection Church

On the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, May 15, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy there. His Grace was co-served by parish clergy: pastor emeritus Archpriest George Larin, rector Archpriest Ilya Gorsky, Priest Ignatius Green, and Protodeacon Dimtri Temidis.

Greeting Bishop Jerome, Fr. Ilya explained the significance of this feast for the parish, and expressed his sincere gratitude to His Grace for his regular visit.

The service was served and sung in Slavonic and English. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Jerome delivered two sermons: in Russian, on the words from the Acts of the Apostles, "When the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews," and about "murmuring" in the church life; and in English, on the Noble Joseph, and how his boldness in the service of Christ made him "noble." A procession was then held around the church.

After the service, a bountiful luncheon was served in the parish hall, during which a children’s concert, entitled "Young Talents," was performed.
