Jordanville, NY: On Feast of Radonitsa, Metropolitan Hilarion
celebrates Liturgy, performs Diaconal Ordination in Holy Trinity
Monastery
On Tuesday, May 10, the feast of Radonitsa ("Day of Rejoicing" – the
first commemoration of the departed after Pascha), Metropolitan
Hilarion of Eastern America & New York paid an archpastoral visit to
Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY.
The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad celebrated the
Divine Liturgy, co-served by monastery abbot Archimandrite Luke
(Murianka) and monastic clergy. During the reading of the Hours,
Metropolitan Hilarion tonsured first-year Holy Trinity seminarian
Michael Storozhev a reader and then ordained him a subdeacon; after
the Eucharistic Canon, ordaining him to the diaconate. Upon
graduating seminary, the newly ordained Deacon Michael will fulfill
his service in the Australian & New Zealand Diocese.
