This year, parishioners of the Church of the Intercession of the
Holy Virgin in Glen Cove, NY celebrate the 60th anniversary of the
founding of their parish. The church was built in 1951 through the
hard work of the pious Prince Sergei & Princess Florence
Beloselsky-Belozersky and warden Gregory Mitkevich for the
spiritual welfare of the Russians living in the nursing homes that
once stood near the church’s current location.

Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow, His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield,
visited the parish of St. Tikhon, and led the divine services on
the occasion of the parish feast day. In his sermon at the end of
the Liturgy, Bishop George mentioned that St. Tikhon always
emphasized the importance of the laity in missionary work in this
country, helping to spread the word of God in whatever way they
could.

topic was the Holy Unmercenary Physicians. Following readings from
patristic texts and the synaxarion, a talk was given by Archpriest
Damian Criscella. Father Damian stressed that these physicians of
the early Church can be looked to not just for healing of body,
but for healing of soul.

Jerome of Manhattan, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church
of Our Lady of Kazan in Newark, NJ. Upon completion of the
Liturgy, Bishop Jerome addressed the gathered faithful with a
sermon on the feast day, speaking on the importance of the

The parish of St. Irenaeus of Lyons, situated in Hinche, Haiti,
celebrated its patronal feast day on August 23, 2011. After the
Liturgy, 120 people were baptized and received into the Orthodox
faith. Thanks to the help of the Fund for Assistance to ROCOR, the
parish of St Irenaeus of Lyons was able to pay rent for two pieces
of land. The parish was able to construct a hangar for the

Cathedral in Washington, DC assembled at the church at 4:30 AM.
After loading personal belongings into a chartered bus and several
private cars, they departed for Holy Trinity Monastery in

– the feast day of St. John of Kronstadt (whose glorification took
