Jared Brewer

Jared Brewer is the conductor of the English choir at Saint John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC.  He has a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University, and began his musical career as a classical trumpet player, playing under the direction of such conductors as Neemi Jarvi, and Sergiu Comissiona and collaborating with Yo Yo Ma, Andre Watts, and Joseph Silverstein, among others.  Mr. Brewer has performed on the Garrison Keillor show and also played a concert featured on the NPR program "Performance Today" at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.  For the last five years, he has focused on conducting and arranging Orthodox choral music. Mr.Brewer’s first choir directing position was at Saint Innocent Church in Carol Stream, Illinois, where he conducted for a year and a half before moving to Washington, DC.  He has also conducted services at the Protection of the Mother of God Cathedral in Des Plaines, Illinois, and conducts twice a month at Saint Nicholas Cathedral (OCA) in Washington, DC.  Mr. Brewer has arranged hundreds of choral pieces for his choir, including many works by Chesnokov, Gretchaninov, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky.  The Saint John the Baptist Cathedral English Choir is working on a recording and hopes to give a concert in the winter of 2009.
