Lakewood, New Jersey: Deacon's Ordination at St. Alexander Nevsky
Cathedral
On
Saturday, August 8, on the eve of the feast of the great-martyr St.
Panteleimon and the archpastoral visit of Metropolitan Hilarion, the
faithful gathered at St.
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ, for the
All-Night Vigil. Taking part in the polyeleos were Archpriest
Serge Lukianov (Diocesan secretary), Priest Seraphim Chemodakov
(cleric of the cathedral), Priest Vadim Arefiev (rector of The Church
of Our Lady "The Inexhaustible Chalice"), and Deacon
Nicholas Lukianov (cleric of the cathedral). On Sunday, August 9, on
the feast of St. Panteleimon, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion,
First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, served the
Divine Liturgy at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood,
NJ. His Eminence was co-served by Priest Alexander Botschagow (Rector
of Holy Fathers Church in New York, NY), Priest Seraphim Chemodakov,
Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo (cleric of the Synodal cathedral), and
Deacon Nicholas Lukianov. During the Little Entrance, the Metropolitan
elevated Deacon Nicholas Lukianov to the rank of protodeacon. Also
praying in the altar was Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, rector of the
cathedral. During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion ordained
Subdeacon Nathan Mousselli, a cleric of the cathedral, to the
deaconate. The newly ordained Deacon Nathan will be assigned to
St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. After the Liturgy, a luncheon was
served in the parish hall.
On
the same day, Metropolitan Hilarion presided over the annual meeting
of the St. Vladimir's Society which was held in the parish center of
St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ.
