Novo-Diveevo (Nanuet, NY): Bishop Jerome led the Divine Liturgy in the
Convent of the Dormition
On
Saturday, August 1, on the feast day of the Finding of the Relics of
the Venerable St. Seraphim of Sarov, a multitude of pilgrims arrived
at the Convent of the Dormition, "Novo-Diveevo," to pray to
the great hermit and "batushka" of all Russia Seraphim. The
Divine Liturgy was led by His Grace, Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, in
St. Seraphim's Church, the main church of the convent. His Grace was
co-served by the convent's clergy: Mitred Archpriest Alexander
Fedorowski, Mitred Archpriest Gleb Wleskoff, and Protodeacon Sergei
Arlievsky, in addition to Archpriest Ilya Gorsky and Priest Ilya Gun.
The rectress of the monastery, Abbess Irene, and the convent's
sisterhood also took part in the divine services. The Liturgy
proceeded under the festive hymns of the choir and in a extremely
uplifted and prayerful atmosphere. About 60 communicants came forward
to the Holy Chalice. Upon completion of the Liturgy, a procession
commenced from the main church to the convent rectory, where a moleben
was served in the Dormition Chapel, where daily services are held
before a unique portrait-icon of St. Seraphim, which was painted
during his lifetime. After the procession, a luncheon was offered to
all of the pilgrims and parishioners. O Venerable Father Seraphim,
pray unto God for us!

Troparion,
4th Tone:
Thou didst love Christ from thy youth, O blessed one, and
longing to work for Him alone thou didst struggle in the
wilderness with constant prayer and labor. With penitent heart
and great love for Christ thou wast favored by the Mother of
God. Wherefore we cry to thee: Save us by thy prayers, O
Seraphim, our righteous Father.
