Red Bank, NJ: Parish Sisterhood feast at St. Nicholas Church
On Sunday,
May 3, St. Nicholas Church was visited by a dual Paschal joy – not
only were we visited by the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora,
the Kursk Root icon of the Mother of God, but His Grace George, Bishop
of Mayfield, also blessed us with his archpastoral visit, during which
he led the Divine Liturgy. His Grace was co-served by the rector,
Archpriest Serge Lukianov, and Deacon Leonid Roschko. This Sunday we
celebrate the memory of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, the patronesses
of our sisterhood, which celebrated its namesday today for the first
time. Upon completion of the Liturgy, the deacon pronounced the
polychronion to His Grace and to every member of the sisterhood, after
which a luncheon was held in the church hall, during which our sisters
were honored and thanked for their love to us and their work in the
holy church.
