Daytona Beach, FL: Bishop Jerome visited the Mission of St. Andrew the First-Called

db.lg.jpg (55242 bytes)On Saturday, July 31, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan Vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan performed an archpastoral visit to Florida, serving the All-Night Vigil in the mission parish of St. Andrew the First-Called Apostle in Daytona Beach. This was the first hierarchal service in the recently established mission parish (the parish was established one year ago).

The following morning, His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archpriest Daniel MacKenzie (rector of St. Vladimir’s Church in Miami, FL), Archpriest Laurence Girard (rector of Holy Elders of Optina Church in Winter Garden, FL), rector Archpriest Andrei Pastukh, and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY).

During the sixth hour, Bishop Jerome tonsured Paul Girard a reader. During the Small Entrance, in accordance with the resolution of ROCOR’s Synod of Bishops, His Grace conferred on Archpriests Daniel and Andrei the right to wear the palitsa.

A large group of parishioners from Miami traveled to Daytona in order to participate in the divine services with Bishop Jerome.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was held for guests and parishioners. During the luncheon, Bishop Jerome presented an icon of the Theotokos to Fr. Andrei and an icon of St. Nicholas to Fr. Daniel for their many years of service to the Holy Church.
