Wayne, WV: Bishop George led the divine services in Holy Cross Monastery on the Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God

On Monday the 20th and Tuesday the 21st of September, on the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan Vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, led the divine services in Holy Cross Monastery. This is also the patronal feast day of the Convent of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin at Holy Cross Monastery. His Grace was co-served by the monastery clergy and Priest Mark Tyson (rector of St. Mary’s Church in Bluefield, WV).

During the Sixth Hour, His Grace tonsured Monk Nektarios (Merry) a reader, and then ordained him a subdeacon. After the Great Entrance, Bishop George elevated Subdeacon Nektarios to the diaconate. The newly ordained Hierodeacon Nektarios is assigned to the clergy of Holy Cross Monastery.
