Red Bank, NJ: Metropolitan Hilarion led the celebrations in honor of the 60th anniversary of St. Nicholas Church

rb.lg.jpg (47414 bytes)On Sunday, November 14, parishioners marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of St. Nicholas Church in Red Bank, NJ. On Saturday evening, parish rector Archpriest Serge Lukianov led the All-Night Vigil, co-served by parish clergy Priest Jonah Campbell and Deacon Leonid Roschko, as well as Deacon Paul Drozdowski (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ). Before the start of the Vigil, a panihida was served for all of the past rectors, builders, and parishioners of St. Nicholas Church.

On Sunday morning, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, celebrated the Divine Liturgy. His Eminence was co-served by the above-mentioned clergy, as well as Archpriest Philip Petrovsky (rector of Holy Virgin Protection English Mission in Jackson) and Archdeacon Eugene Burbelo (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign).

During the Small Entrance, the Metropolitan awarded Fr. Jonah the right to wear the nabedrennik, and Fr. Leonid the right to wear the double orarion, for their ardent service to the Holy Church.

Present during the Liturgy was Red Bank Mayor Pasquale Menna, who stood alongside scout representatives of the St. Alexander Nevsky Division of St. George Pathfinders of America.

rb2.lg.jpg (84010 bytes)At the end of the service, the First Hierarch congratulated parishioners on the significant occasion of the 60th anniversary of the parish’s founding, and presented the rector with a Synodal gramota for the whole parish. Mayor Pasquale Menna then greeted the First Hierarch on the occasion of his archpastoral visit to Red Bank, and congratulated parishioners with this joyous milestone. On behalf of the local government, Mr. Menna presented the parish with a congratulatory proclamation. Also read was a greeting from the Dean of New Jersey, Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov.

Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was offered in the hall of the local Holy Nativity Catholic Church, during which many warm words and greetings were expressed. During the luncheon, a photomontage of the parish’s history was presented.
