Setauket, NY: The Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna visited Holy Cross Monastery

stanna.lg.jpg (28925 bytes)On Friday, November 19, Holy Cross Monastery in Setauket, NY, was blessed with the visit of the Myrrh-Streaming Icon of St. Anna. An akathist was served before the icon by the Abbot, Archimandrite Maximos (Weimar), co-served by Hierodeacon Michael. The icon’s guardian, Archimandrite Athanasy (Mastalski; rector of Our Lady, Joy of All Who Sorrow, Church in Philadelphia, PA), gave a stirring sermon about the icon and what it should mean to all of the faithful. At the end of the service, all were able to venerate the icon and be anointed with oil.

The following morning, Fr. Maximos served the Divine Liturgy in the presence of the icon, co-served by Fr. Athanasy and Fr. Michael. There was a blessed feeling in the church for all who came to worship. The choir, led by Hierodeacon Parthenios, sang beautifully and with passion. All who came to the service partook of Holy Communion, and at the end of the service all were again anointed after venerating the icon.
