On Sunday, August 14, on the feast day of the Procession of the Honorable Wood of the Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, visited St. Vladimir Memorial Church to the Millennium of the Baptism of Russia in Jackson, NJ.

Prior to the beginning of Liturgy, His Grace baptized the newborn Basil Glacken in the lower Church of the Protection of the Mother of God. Bishop Jerome then celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by deputy rector Priest Serge Ledkovsky, Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY), Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; cleric of the Australian Diocese), and parish Deacons Alexander Smida and Paul Drozdowski. During the Great Entrance, in accordance with the directive of Metropolitan Hilarion, Bishop Jerome commemorated the ever-memorable Metropolitan Antony (Khrapovitsky), the first ROCOR First Hierarch, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of his repose. Upon completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Jerome led a memorial commemoration for Metropolitan Antony, and then delivered an inspiring sermon on that day’s Epistle reading.

With the blessing of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Bishop Jerome bestowed longtime St. Vladimir Society member Subdeacon Russell Wojtenko, Jr. a gramota on behalf of the Society.

After the service, with the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, a regular meeting of the St. Vladimir Society was held in the parish hall under the chairmanship of His Grace, Bishop Jerome. In his introductory remarks, His Grace conveyed to the Society members the blessing of the First Hierarch and chairman of St. Vladimir Society, Metropolitan Hilarion, and presented the meeting’s agenda.
