Bishop George visits parishes in Kansas and Colorado
At
the invitation of Abp. Kyrill of San Francisco, His Grace, Bishop
George of Mayfield, is currently making a pilgrimage across the
United States to celebrate the feast day of St. John in the
Cathedral of Our Lady, “Joy of All Who Sorrow” in San Francisco,
before the holy and incorrupt relics of the holy hierarch.
During his trip, on June 25-26, the Sunday of All Saints of Russia,
with the blessing of Bp. Peter of Cleveland, Vladyka visited
Holy Virgin
Protection Mission in Prairie Village, KS, and celebrated the
All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy in the parish, which worships in
a small chapel made available through the kind generosity of a
local Lutheren congregation. During
his visit to Kansas, His Grace was a guest of parish deacon Zachary
Rose, who recently transferred to the Mid-America Diocese from the
Eastern American Diocese (former cleric of St. Mary of Egypt Church
in Atlanta, GA). Fr. Zachary led the choir for the divine services
and Vladyka confessed all the faithful who then received Holy
Communion at the Divine Liturgy. After the services Fr. Zachary
escorted Vladyka on a tour of the historic Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop
and Farm.
On
Monday, June 27th, His Grace arrived in Denver, Colorado
and was greeted by Archpriest Boris Henderson, rector of
All
Saints of Russia Church, located in the capital city. Fr. Boris
is the rector of the only Russian church in all of Colorado and the
spiritual guide for thousands of Russians living in the Rocky
Mountain State. On Tuesday, Fr. Boris escorted Vladyka on a tour of
the scenic and world famous Rocky Mountains. On Wednesday morning,
His Grace visited All Saints of Russia Church and venerated the
sacred icons and relics of the parish. Then Vladyka continued West
through the Great Basin Desert towards California.
With God’s help, Bp. George will arrive in San Francisco on July 1st.
