Jackson, NJ: The New Jersey dean led the rite of vesting of Archpriest Philip Petrovsky and the first litiya

On Wednesday evening, June 15, local parish clerics from central New Jersey, led by New Jersey dean Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov, gathered in Jackson for the rite of vesting of the newly departed Archpriest Philip Petrovsky. Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, St. Vladimir Memorial Church deputy rector Priest Serge Ledkovsky, Priest Jonah Campbell (cleric of St. George’s Church in Howell), Deacon Alexander Smida, and Deacon Paul Drozdowski also took part in the rite of vesting.

The above-mentioned clergy then served a litiya with the canon for the departure of the soul from the body in the lower Holy Virgin Protection Church of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson. After the litiya, the dean addressed the gathered worshipers with a touching sermon on all of the difficulties in the life of a priest, and called upon everyone to fortify their prayers for the newly departed Archpriest Philip.
