Jordanville, NY: 61 Commencement of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary

On Sunday May 31, Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary celebrated commencement ceremonies for the graduating class of 2009. His Grace, Gabriel, Bishop of Montreal and Canada, presided over the ceremonies, having celebrated Divine Liturgy on the same morning and All-night Vigil on Saturday night. 

 

Freewood Acres, NJ: Remembrance of Lienz Tragedy

On June 1, 1945, at the conclusion of the most terrible war in the history of mankind, in the mountain town of Lienz, over 20,000 Cossacks were rounded up and handed over to death in the Soviet Union. By tradition, the Kuban Cossack Voisko Abroad commemorates the victims of this tragedy every year on the nearest Sunday to June 1. 

 

Tidewater, VA: 20th anniversary of St. Joseph of Optina Church

On May 30th and 31th, St. Joseph of Optina Church in Tidewater, VA celebrated its 20th anniversary as an Orthodox Mission, its 15th year as a Church Abroad Mission, and parish feastday in the St. Theodore Chapel at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Norfolk, Virginia. 

 

Jordanville, NY: Memorial Day Youth Retreat at Holy Trinity Monastery

Memorial Day Weekend, Holy Trinity Monastery hosted a retreat for young Orthodox adults. Many came from as far away as Florida and California. The greater number of participants came from the young adult community of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, but all were welcome and some came from other jurisdictions.

 

Poughkeepsie, NY: Parish Feast Day of St. Nicholas Church
May 26, 2009
St Nicholas Parish in Poughkeepsie, NY, marks its feast day in the spring, May 22 according to the new calendar. This year, the date fell on a Friday, so on the following Sunday, His Grace Bishop Jerome of Manhattan officiated at Divine Liturgy at the church.

Boston, MA: The Head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission visited the Church of the Theophany

On the Sunday of the Holy Myrrh-Bearing Women, Archimandrite Joasaph (McLellan), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, led the divine services in the Church of the Theophany. After the Liturgy, Fr. Victor thanked Fr. Joasaph for his service and his prayers.

 

Newark, NJ: Holy Myrrhbearers Women’s Choir celebrates its 11th Annual Patronal Feast

On Saturday, May 2nd and Sunday, May 3rd, the Holy Myrrhbearers Diocesan Women’s Choir under the direction of Eugenia Temidis, upheld its 12 year tradition and marked the Paschal feast of their heavenly patronesses by singing the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy at the Church of Our Lady of Kazan in Newark NJ. 


Red Bank, NJ: Parish Sisterhood feast at St. Nicholas Church

On Sunday, May 3, St. Nicholas Church was visited by a dual Paschal joy – not only were we visited by the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora, the Kursk Root icon of the Mother of God, but His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, also blessed us with his archpastoral visit, during which he led the Divine Liturgy.

 

Nyack, NY: Parish Sisterhood feast at Holy Virgin Protection Church

On May 3rd, the Sunday commemorating the Myrrh Bearing women, the Feast Day of the Parish Sisterhood, His Grace, Bishop Jerome Vicar Bishop of Manhattan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Virgin Protection Russian Orthodox Church in Nyack, New York.
