Audio from the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in St.
John the Baptist Cathedral on the last day of the Eastern American
Diocesan Pastoral Conference and Lenten Retreat, Friday, March 25,
in Washington, DC, is now available to visitors to the diocesan
website. Also available is audio of Archpriest Chad Williams’
(rector of St. Alexander Nevsky Church in Richmond, ME) sermon,
delivered during the communion of the clergy.

On Wednesday,
March 3, upon completion of the
Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts,
a farewell banquet and official closing of the
conference were held in the parish hall of St. John
the Baptist Cathedral. Farewell addresses were
delivered by the Eastern American Diocesan vicar
bishops, Their Graces, George of Mayfield and Jerome
of Manhattan.

On Friay, March 25, His Grace, Eastern American
Diocesan vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, officiated

Upon returning from the
Hillwood museum, lunch was served in the parish hall. Priest
George Pavlóvich (cleric of the Diocese of Nizhny Novgorod) then
delivered a lecture on "the life, labors, and teachings of St.
Seraphim of Sarov as a source of inspiration for the contemporary
pastor." After dinner, a litiya was served for the departed
Archpastors and clergy of the diocese followed by matins, during
which everybody had a chance to go to confession before Liturgy.

American Diocese visited the Hillwood Museum, home to a unique
collection of Russian art and antiquity from the Imperial period.

On Wednesday,
March 23, after the official opening of the Pastoral Conference,
Their Graces, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishops George of
Mayfield and Jerome of Manhattan, spoke in the parish hall about
the work of the Holy Sobor of Bishops that recently convened in
Moscow. The hierarchs took questions from the clergy regarding
liturgical practices, interchurch relations, administrative work
on the part of the hierarchs, and other concerns.

brothers and sisters! From faraway Australia, I call down God’s
grace on the labors of the Lenten Retreat and Pastoral Conference,
which is currently taking place under the aegis of the Kursk Root
Icon of the Mother of God and the holy auspices of St. John the
Baptist Cathedral, which for so many years has beautifully adorned
