Coronado: Russian Orthodox Mission in Costa Rica celebrates 20th Anniversary

The clergy and faithful of Costa Rica recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of the parish of Our Lady of Vladimir Church. The history of the Russian Orthodox mission in Costa Rica under the jurisdiction of the Russian Church Abroad began 20 years ago, when Fr. Daniel traveled to Costa Rica in 1994 and celebrated the first Divine Liturgy there.

Monk John (Campbell) Reposed in the Lord

Monk John (Campbell; known previously as Fr. Lawrence of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY) reposed peacefully in the Lord just before midnight on Monday, November 3. He was 81. He spent much of his life preparing English-language texts of the divine services and private prayers, most notably the Fourth Edition of the Jordanville Prayer Book and the Unabbreviated Horologion.

On Saturday, November 1, celebrations in honor of the 50th anniversary of the glorification of Righteous John of Kronstadt were held at St. John of Kronstadt Memorial Church in Utica, NY. Also celebrated was the 60th anniversary of the founding of a Memorial Fund in the saint’s name, which was originally organized to aid in the church’s construction.
