25th Anniversary of the Hierarchal Ordination of Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the hierarchal ordination of His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The ordination was performed by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Philaret (Voznesensky) in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign on December 10, 1984. On behalf of all the faithful of the Eastern American Diocese, the following congratulatory letter was sent to His Eminence by the Diocesan Council:

On this joyous and memorable day, the 25^th anniversary of your elevation to the episcopate, on behalf of all the faithful children of the Eastern American Diocese, we, the members of the Diocesan Council, filially congratulate Your Eminence with this truly momentous milestone. On this joyous day for your whole flock, every corner of the diocese echoes the prayers of the faithful for your well-being.

 

May you continue to carry the cross of archpastoral servitude, which was providentially entrusted to you by the Lord in His unspeakable dispensation, with unshakeable hope in God’s graceful mercy and His all-powerful aid.

 

 Again and again we prayerfully wish you, dear Vladyka, unfailing fortification in the Lord, that you may continue your archpastoral service unto the glory of the Russian Church Abroad and in the service of God’s people.
