NJ: Bishop Jerome led the funeral of Archpriest Boris Kizenko
On Sunday, August 29, the First Hierarch of
the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence Hilarion, Metropolitan of
Eastern America and New York, visited St. Vladimir Memorial Church of
the Millennium of the Baptism of Russia, in Jackson, NJ, in order to
bid farewell to Archpriest Boris Kizenko. His Eminence prayed at Fr.
Boris’ coffin and then performed a memorial litiya. The longtime
cleric of the Memorial Church and one of the most senior clerics of
the diocese fell asleep in the Lord on August
27.
On Tuesday, August 31, the faithful of the
Eastern American Diocese gathered in St. Vladimir Memorial Church for
Fr. Boris’ funeral. The Liturgy for the Departed was celebrated by
the Memorial Church’s deputy rector, Priest Serge Ledkovsky,
co-served by Archpriest Alexander Golubov, Archpriest George Kallaur,
Priest Ilya Gun, Priest Constantine Semyanko, Protodeacon Joseph
Jarostchuk, Deacon Leonid Roschko, and Deacon Paul Drozdowski. His
Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, in Jackson with the First
Hierarch’s blessing to lead the funeral, prayed in the altar during
the Liturgy.
Upon completion of the Liturgy, His Grace led
Fr. Boris’ funeral, co-served by a multitude of
clergy, who came
from all over the diocese to bid farewell to the good shepherd. The
eulogy was delivered by New Jersey Dean Protopresbyter Valery Lukianov.

condolence from ROCOR’s First Hierarch, His Eminence Hilarion,
Metropolitan of Eastern America and New York:
Today,
on the day of the funeral and burial of the newly departed Mitred
Archpriest Boris, who went peacefully to the Lord on the threshold
of the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, I would
like to express my most sincere and heartfelt condolences to
Matushka Tamara, their children, grandchildren, and all of their
relatives.
In
Fr. Boris we had a kind, sympathetic, and prayerful pastor, who for
many years toiled in Christ’s Vineyard, serving in a series of
parishes of the Russian Church Abroad.
Fr.
Boris was one of the first graduates of Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary, founded in 1948. After his ordination he gave himself over
fully to pastor work. In every one of his parishes, he earned the
love and respect of his flock, and introduced peace and calm to the
church community.
The
final parish at which he served was St. Vladimir Memorial Church,
whose construction and adornment he completed in time for the
millennial celebrations of the Baptism of Russia in 1988.
May
the Merciful God receive the soul of His faithful servant Archpriest
Boris, where the righteous repose, where there is no suffering, nor
sighing, but endless blessed life. May his memory be eternal!

After the funeral, a procession was performed
around the church, after which the burial was held at St. Vladimir’s
