Sea Cliff, NY: Metropolitan Alexander of Astana & Kazakhstan and Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim’s Church

On Saturday, December 11, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana & Kazakhstan and Archbishop Justinian of Naro-Fominsk, Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim’s Church in Sea Cliff, NY. Their Eminences were co-served by parish clergy and clerics from neighboring parishes. Present at the service was the wonder-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

Praying in church were dignitaries from Kursk: the deputy abbot of the Kursk Root Hermitage, Igumen Benjamin (Korolev) and Hierodeacon Rodion, who was traveling with him, as well as Vyacheslav N. Lysykh, Director of Kursk Regional Historical & Cultural Center "Root Hermitage."

Upon completion of the Liturgy, Their Eminences were greeted by parish rector Archpriest Serafim Gan, who presented Metropolitan Alexander with a new bishop’s staff in honor of his elevation to the rank of metropolitan by His Holiness, Patriarch Kyrill, on July 28th of this year. He then presented Archbishop Justinian with a staff in honor of the 15th anniversary of his hierarchal consecration. Metropolitan Alexander, in turn, presented Fr. Serafim with an icon of the Holy Great Prince Alexander Nevsky in honor of his archpastoral visit.

After the service, a luncheon was offered in the parish hall, during church longtime parishioners Oleg G. Sampsidis and Rostislav V. Polchaninov delivered presentations on the topic of the evacuation of the White Russian Army and other refugees from the Crimea exactly 90 years ago.
