Baltimore, MD: The Kursk Root Icon visited Holy Trinity Church

December 26-27 saw the American Northeast hit by a blizzard, but with God’s help, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God was able to reach its intended destinations – Baltimore and Philadelphia. On Sunday evening, the Icon visited Holy Trinity Church in Baltimore, MD. Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, led the moleben and akathist, co-served by rector Priest John Vass and parish Deacon Michael Bishop.

Upon completion of the service, in memory of the visit of the Kursk Icon to Baltimore and on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, Fr. Serge presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque. A lenten dinner was then offered, during which Fr. Serge presented a photomontage of the wonderworking image’s visit to Russia in 2009.
