Simpson, PA: Joint service in St. Basil’s Church

 

On Sunday, March 27, the third Sunday of Great Lent, the Veneration of the Holy Cross, Archpriest John Sorochka (cathedral dean) celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great in St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Mayfield, PA, co-served by parish Protodeacon Gregory Petrochko.

 

On Sunday evening, Great Vespers were held at St. Basil’s Church in Simpson, PA. The service was led by Fr. John (Dean of the Pennsylvania Deanery), co-served by parish rector Archpriest David Hritcko, Archpriest Paul White (rector of St. Nicholas Church in Wilkes-Barre, PA), Archpriest Michael Lepa (cleric of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Scranton, PA), Archpriest Basil Micek (rector of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Scranton), and Abbot German (Ciuba; rector St. Stephen’s Church in Old Forge, PA).

 

The Podoben male choir was present and sang under the direction of Maria Pavuk. After Vespers, a bountiful Lenten meal was offered by the parishioners of St. Basil’s in the parish hall.
