Moscow: Bishop Jerome of Manhattan celebrated the Divine
Liturgy in the Church of St. Nicholas at St. Tikhon’s Theological
Institute
With
the blessing of His Holiness Kyrill, Patriarch of Moscow and All
Russia, and at the invitation of Archpriest Vladimir Vorobiev, Dean
of St. Tikhon’s Theological Institute in Moscow, on Sunday, January
30, His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan and vicar of the Eastern
American Diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Institute’s
Church of St. Nicholas in Kuznetskaya.
His Grace was greeted with the peal of bells, and the Liturgy
proceeded in triumphal fashion, to the singing of two choirs and
with the concelebration of a multitude of Muscovite clergy. Upon
completion of the Liturgy, Bishop Jerome delivered an uplifting
sermon, and then greeted the sister of the reposed Bishop Daniel
(Alexandrow), Marya Borisovna, who was praying in church, presenting
her with one of the ever-memorable Bishop’s recently restored
panagias.
Bishop Jerome of Manhattan was one of only three hierarchs to
receive a blessing from His Holiness to perform the divine services
in Moscow during the convocation of the Sobor of Bishops. Also
receiving blessings to serve were Their Eminences, Metropolitan
Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the
Russian Church Abroad (who served in St. Daniel’s Monastery), and
Archbishop Mark of Berlin, Germany, and Great Britain (who served at
Holy Resurrection Church in Sokolniki).
