Daytona Beach, FL: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Andrew’s Church

On Thursday the 17th and Friday the 18th of February, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the Mission of St. Andrew the First-Called in Daytona Beach, FL. On Thursday evening, Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, served a moleben and akathist in the church, co-served by rector Archpriest Andrey Pastukh and Priest Joseph Samaan (rector of St. Demetrios Greek Church in Daytona Beach).

Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, and reminded them about the heavenly and never-ceasing intercessions of the Theotokos for all mankind, then presenting the parish with an icon of the Mother of God of the Sign – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

The following morning, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, co-served by the above-mentioned clergy and Priest Viktor Orda (rector of Sts. Vera, Nadezhda, Lubov and Sophia Mission in Kissimmee, FL). Also praying in church was Protodeacon Michael Malanowski (cleric of the Church of St. Stephen the Protomartyr in Longwood, FL). Upon completion of the Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was served, during which the faithful continued to venerate the holy Icon and pray before it.
