St. Petersburg, FL: The Kursk Root Icon visited St. Andrew’s Church

 

On Saturday, February 19, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited the Church of St. Andrew Stratelates in St. Petersburg, FL. Parish rector Archpriest Igor Chitikov served a moleben and akathist before the wonderworking image, co-served by Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, and parish Deacon Igor Tarasov.

 

Upon completion of the moleben, Fr. Serge delivered a sermon to the gathered faithful on the travels and miracles of the Kursk Icon, and reminded them about the heavenly and never-ceasing intercessions of the Mother of God for us sinners, and presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon – a blessing from Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad. A bountiful luncheon was then offered in the parish hall.
