Brooklyn, NY: The Kursk Root Icon visited New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church

On Sunday, January 2, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn, NY. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, co-served by Archpriest Boris Oparin (parish cleric), Deacon Leonid Roschko (cleric of St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ), and parish deacon Vladimir Oliynyk.

After the Liturgy, a short moleben was served before the Kursk Root Icon. A luncheon was then offered in the parish hall, during which Fr. Serge presented a photomontage chronicling the visit of the wonderworking icon to Russia in 2009.

After the luncheon, an akathist was served in the church, which allowed parishioners more time to spend in prayer before the Most Holy Theotokos.
