California, PA: Bishop George celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Church

 

On Saturday, January 23, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan Vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Church in California, PA. His Grace was co-served by Pennsylvania Dean Archpriest John Sorochka, parish rector Archpriest Stephan Romanchak, Archpriest George Mitchell (rector of Christ Our Savior Church in Indiana, PA), Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Priest Dionysi Vitali (rector of St. Basil the Great Church in Belle Vernon, PA), Priest Dimitri Ermakov (rector of Holy Virgin Dormition Church in McKeesport, PA), and Deacon Jeremiah Davis (cleric of Holy Cross Monastery).

 

Also present in church was the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. During the Sixth Hour, Bishop George tonsured parishioner Joseph Sefchik a reader; during the Small Entrance, in accordance with the resolution of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, His Grace awarded Fr. Stephan the right to wear the miter. Upon completion of the Liturgy, His Grace presented the parish a copy of the Kursk Icon with a commemorative plaque in honor of the wonderworking icon’s visit. A bountiful luncheon was then offered in the parish hall.
