Canonsburg, PA: The Kursk Root Icon visited All Saints Greek Church

On Friday, January 21, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited All Saints Greek Church in Canonsburg, PA, accompanied by diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov. The Icon was greeted by the rector, Priest George Livanos and a multitude of local clergy and faithful of Pittsburgh. A paraklesis was served in the church, accompanied by the joyous singing of Pittsburgh’s Greek male choir. Also praying in church was Metropolitan Theodosius (Lazor; former Primate of the OCA). Upon completion of the paraklesis, Fr. Serge presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Icon with a with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion. After the service, all were invited to a lenten meal in the parish hall, during which Fr. Serge presented a photomontage of the wonderworking icon’s return to Russia in 2009.
