Indiana, PA: Bishop George served the Great Vespers in Christ Our Savior Church

 

On Saturday, January 23, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan Vicar Bishop George of Mayfield, served the Great Vespers in Christ Our Savior Church in Indiana, PA. His Grace was co-served by Pennsylvania Dean Archpriest John Sorochka, Archpriest Stephan Romanchak (rector of Holy Trinity Church in California, PA), parish rector Archpriest George Mitchell, Archimandrite Pitirim (Stehnach; acting rector of St. John the Baptist Church in Black Lick, PA), Archpriest George Hnatko (rector of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church in Dixonville, PA) Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, Priest Dionysi Vitali (rector of St. Basil the Great Church in Belle Vernon, PA), Priest Dimitri Ermakov (rector of Holy Virgin Dormition Church in McKeesport, PA), and Deacon Jeremiah Davis (cleric of Holy Cross Monastery).

 

Also present in church was the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. During the Small Entrance, in accordance with the resolution of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, Bishop George awarded Fr. George Mitchell the right to wear the miter. Upon completion of the service, His Grace presented the parish a copy of the Kursk Icon with a commemorative plaque in honor of the wonderworking icon’s visit.
