Jermyn, PA: Bishop Tikhon of Philadelphia served a moleben before the Kursk Root Icon in St. Michael’s Church

On Friday evening, January 28, the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God visited St. Michael’s Church in Jermyn, PA. His Grace Tikhon, Bishop of the Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania Diocese (OCA), greeted the Icon with local clergy. His Grace served a moleben and akathist, co-served by parish rector Archpriest John Kowalczyk, Eastern American Diocesan secretary Archpriest Serge Lukianov, who was accompanying the Icon, and local clergy.

After the moleben, Bishop Tikhon addressed worshipers with an archpastoral homily. Fr. Serge then presented the rector with a copy of the Kursk Root Icon with a commemorative plaque on behalf of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, in memory of the Kursk Icon’s visit to Jermyn.
