On Sunday, May 22, the feast day of the Translation of the Relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, His Grace Jerome, Bishop of Manhattan, paid an archpastoral visit to St. Nicholas Church in Poughkeepsie, NY, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast day. The Liturgy was served under the aegis of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God, which was visiting the parish for the first time in many years.

In the joyous Paschal days celebrating the holy Myrrhbearing Women, at the invitation and with the blessing of the rector, Archpriest Victor Potapov, and at the initiative of the choir’s longtime friend Sergey Olhovsky, members of the Holy Myrrhbearers Diocesan Women’s Choir, headed by director Eugenia Temidis, arrived at St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, to mark their patronal feast day at the divine services in honor of their heavenly patronesses.

Cyril & Methodius, Equals-of-the-Apostles, when the fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church marks the namesday of its Primate, His Holiness Kyrill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, a triumphal Liturgy was served in St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City, concelebrated for the first time by the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America and the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.

With the blessing of His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, the diocesan missionary program Volunteers in Mission (VIM) is announcing the launch of the Young Adult Monastery Project (YAMP). The first project will be held at St. Nicholas Monastery in sunny North Fort Myers, FL on July 1-10, 2011. Each day will be filled with workshops, monastery projects, arts and crafts, visits to the beach and local sites of interest, and religious instruction.

On Saturday, May 7, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Eminence Justinian, Archbishop of Naro-Fominsk, visited St. Vladimir’s Cemetery in Jackson, NJ and led a panihida at St. John the Baptist Chapel for all those warriors who "had laid down their lives on the field of battle for Faith, Tsar, and Fatherland, for those tortured and killed in prisons and camps." Praying at the panihida were clergy from local parishes and representatives of Cossack organizations throughout the Diaspora; the service was sung by the male choir of St. George’s Church in Howell.
