In accordance with old Diasporan tradition, the national
celebration of the memory of the Holy Equal-of-the-Apostles St.
Vladimir is held at St. Vladimir Memorial Church to the Millennium
of the Baptism of Russia in Jackson, NJ, on the last Sunday of
July. This year, the St. Vladimir’s Day celebrations were held on
Saturday the 30th and Sunday the 31st of July.

On Thursday, July 28, His Grace, Eastern
American Diocesan vicar Bishop Jerome of Manhattan, celebrated the
Divine Liturgy in St. Vladimir Memorial Church on the occasion of
the church’s patronal feast day. In his sermon, Bishop Jerome
emphasized the responsibility of every Christian to spread and
bear witness to the Orthodox faith among heterodox peoples, as the
holy Grand Prince, Equal-of-the-Apostles, did in his time.

On Monday, July 18, in conjunction with his archpastoral visit to
the parish of St. Elizabeth the New-Martyr in Columbia, SC, His
Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, was given a tour of the Military
Chaplaincy School at Fort Jackson.
The U.S. Army Basic Combat Training base Fort Jackson is named
after President Andrew Jackson, who was also a United States Army
General. Fort Jackson is the biggest Initial Entry Training Center

On Sunday, July 24, on the feast of
Holy Grand Princess Olga, Equal-of-the-Apostles, the 40th day of
the repose of Archpriest Philip Petrovsky was marked at St.
Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ. Deputy rector Priest
Serge Ledkovsky celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the lower Holy
Virgin Protection Church, co-served by parish Deacons Alexander
Smida and Paul Drozdowski. After the Liturgy, a panihida was

Icon of the Mother of God of Hawaii visited St. John the Baptist

scout camp St. George Pathfinders of America (SGPA), "Tsarskoe
Selo" Chapter (Northville, NY), held a Troop Leadership Course

in Sea Cliff, NY, June marked the completion of the first stage of
the iconography of the church’s dome, namely an icon of the Mother
of God and the prophets depicted on Her wonderworking Kursk Root
Icon. Now iconography-priest Paul Akmolin (cleric of the
Mid-American Diocese) will begin the second stage – the icons of
the evangelists and four archangels.
