On Saturday, October 22, a delegation of West Point cadets
visited Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. The
visit was arranged between Dr.
Olga Vladimirovna Dobrunoff, Russian professor at the
United States Military Academy and rector Archpriest
George Larin. Accompanying the professor were Lieutenant
Colonel Michael Nerstheimer, Cadet
Jonathan Stamp, Cadet Ivan Ivaschenko, and Cadet
Ranson Sammons.

St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, was once
more found worthy of God’s abundant mercy. On October
22-23, we were visited by the myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon
of the Mother of God of Hawaii. Our church community was
the final destination on a list of 52 parishes visited by
the indefatigable Reader Nectarios Yangston, guardian of
the wonderworking Icon, during his 30-day pilgrimage
throughout the Eastern American Diocese.

of the Most Holy Theotokos, the All-Night Vigil was served at Holy
Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. The Vigil was led by parish
rector Archpriest George Larin... On Friday morning, the very day
of the feast, His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop
Jerome of Manhattan, visited Nyack to celebrate the Divine
Liturgy.

Mother of God Church in Rochester, NY. Parish rector Archpriest
Gregory Naumenko greeted the First Hierarch at the entrance to the
church. During the hours, Metropolitan Hilarion tonsured

Canada will host the annual St. Herman’s Orthodox Youth
Conference.

On Thursday, October 20, on the feast day of St. Jonah of Hankou,
His Grace, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop George of

The first half of the second day of the autumnal diocesan
conference was dedicated to preserving the rich spiritual legacy
and heritage of Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky) and Archbishop Averky
(Taushev). 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of the repose of these
two great hierarchs of our Diocese. Reader Peter Lukianov (Editor
of Diocesan Publications) presented a lecture on the lives of Abp.
Nikon and Abp. Averky, accompanied by a slideshow of over 200
photographs.

The first day of the Autmnal Pastoral Conference came to a close
at Holy Trinity Monastery on Tuesday, October 18. After the
conference opening, the first lecture was read by Deacon Andrei
Psarev (professor at Holy Trinity Seminary) and dedicated to the
75th anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Antony
(Khrapovitsky). Fr. Andrei’s talk was specifically about the
relationship between Metropolitan Antony and the Anglican Church.

The annual joint Divine Liturgy and picnic of ROCOR parishes
in North and South Carolina took place under beautiful skies at
Cheraw State Park. This year, the Divine Liturgy was concelebrated
by Archpriest Alexander Davydov, Archpriest Anastasy Yatrelis,
Archpriest Onouphry Keith, and Priest Alexander Logunov. A joint
choir of the four parishes sang the service in Church Slavonic,
English, and Greek.

the West," has been released. This groundbreaking recording brings
together the music of two living composers – Gennady Lapaev of
Russia and Kurt Sander of the United States. The project was

On Thursday, September 22, a graduation ceremony was held for
students of “Foyer d'Amour” a School for
Handicapped Children at the Nativity of the Mother of God Church
in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. After the great earthquake, the school
took on many young men and women who were in need of special help
and provided them with studies and classes in sewing, baking, and
other useful skills.
