On Saturday, October 22, a delegation of West Point cadets visited Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY. The visit was arranged between Dr. Olga Vladimirovna Dobrunoff, Russian professor at the United States Military Academy and rector Archpriest George Larin. Accompanying the professor were Lieutenant Colonel Michael NerstheimerCadet Jonathan Stamp, Cadet Ivan Ivaschenko, and Cadet Ranson Sammons.

St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Washington, DC, was once more found worthy of God’s abundant mercy. On October 22-23, we were visited by the myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon of the Mother of God of Hawaii. Our church community was the final destination on a list of 52 parishes visited by the indefatigable Reader Nectarios Yangston, guardian of the wonderworking Icon, during his 30-day pilgrimage throughout the Eastern American Diocese.

The first half of the second day of the autumnal diocesan conference was dedicated to preserving the rich spiritual legacy and heritage of Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky) and Archbishop Averky (Taushev). 2011 marks the 35th anniversary of the repose of these two great hierarchs of our Diocese. Reader Peter Lukianov (Editor of Diocesan Publications) presented a lecture on the lives of Abp. Nikon and Abp. Averky, accompanied by a slideshow of over 200 photographs.

The annual joint Divine Liturgy and picnic of ROCOR parishes in North and South Carolina took place under beautiful skies at Cheraw State Park.
