On Sunday, October 31, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in St. Elizabeth the New Martyr Church in Rocky Hill, NJ. His Grace was co-served by parish rector Archpriest David Straut and Deacon Leonid Roschko. During the Sixth Hour, Vladyka tonsured parishioner Stephanos Bibas a reader, then ordaining Reader Sergio Silva a subdeacon.

Jordanville: The third issue of Holy Trinity Theological Seminary journal "Holy Trinity’s Heritage" has been published

Holy Trinity Theological Seminary in Jordanville, NY has published the third issue of its journal, "Troitskoe nasledie" ("Holy Trinity’s Heritage"), dedicated in part to the memory of Archpriest Boris Kizenko (reposed August 27, 2010) and his seminary graduating class. The journal, a successor publication to Holy Trinity Seminary’s earlier, 1997 publication, is published entirely in Russian, in full color, and is 80 pages long.

During the Liturgy, Bishop George elevated Heirodeacon Nektarios to the priesthood.

Priest Maximos McIntyre, a convert to Orthodoxy, has been a cleric of the Eastern American Diocese for almost a year and has recently completed a screenplay "entitled Lord of Glory," a story of Soviet persecution of Orthodox Christians in communist Russia. On Saturday, October 16, His Grace George, Bishop of Mayfield, led the All-Night Vigil in St. George’s Church in Howell, NJ. His Grace was co-served by Archpriest Boris Henderson, Archpriest John Moses, Deacon Leonid Roschko and Deacon Nathan Moussell. The following morning, His Grace visited Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ, and celebrated the Divine Liturgy.

On Sunday, October 10, the St. Alexander Nevsky Foundation held its sixth annual Russian and Slavic Cultural Festival at St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Lakewood, NJ. The festival turned out to be a great success with over 1350 attendees on a beautiful afternoon. This year’s festival featured "Barynya" Russian Dance Ensemble for the first time.

South Carolina: 15th annual joint Divine Liturgy at Cheraw State Park

On Sunday, October 17, parishioners of the Russian Church Abroad in North and South Carolina came together for joint prayer under a shelter by the lake at Cheraw State Park for the fifteenth time. This tradition began in the fall of 1995, when Priest Anastasy Yatrelis (rector of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Summerville, SC (near Charleston)) was also spiritually nourishing the Holy Trinity Mission in Durham, NC.

On Tuesday, October 12, the day of the finding of the relics of St. John (Maximovitch), the holy relic of St. John’s miter was brought to St. John the Wonderworker Church in Framingham, MA. An akathist to the hierarch was served in the presence of faithful from the surrounding parishes of Greater Boston. The akathist was led by the Chancellor of the Synod of Bishops, Archpriest Serafim Gan, co-served by parish rector Priest Vadim Pismenny.

Chatanooga, TN: VIM Volunteers built a chapel in honor of the Protection of the Mother of God

On October 7-9, Archpriest John Moses led several members of the Volunteers in Mission (VIM) Program on a work project in Chattanooga, TN, to help construct a chapel for the Protection of the Mother of Mission in the home of Archpriest Stavros Rousos. The team built an iconostasis, altar table, table of oblation, and servers’ table for the mission.

Every year, on the first Sunday after the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the patronal feast day is triumphally celebrated in Holy Cross Monastery. This year, the festivities fell on October 2-3. Pilgrims came to the monastery both from surrounding parishes and from afar: clerics and worshipers came from Indiana, Ohio, North Carolina, New York, and New Jersey.
